We are looking for:
- Graduate students/postdoctoral fellows to study mechanisms of ion channel and neurotransmitter release malfunction in GNB1 encephalopathy caused by mutations in G protein beta subunit, and search for drug treatment for the accompanying epilepsy. Project includes the use of animal (mouse) models and neurons derived from induced pluripotent cells, by a variety of electrophysiological, pharmacological and molecular approaches.
- A motivated M.Sc. student for a project on novel molecular mechanisms of regulation of transmitter release. We use biophysical, biochemical and optical methods, and the students have both close guidance and freedom for testing his/her own new ideas and suggesting new experiments.
Short description of projects in the lab:
- Molecular mechanisms of function and regulation of G protein activated K+ channels (GIRK) and Ca2+ channels (Cav1.2) in health and disease.
- Mechanisms and drug treatment of diseases caused by mutations in G proteins and ion channels: hyperaldosteronism, GNB1 encephalopathy, epilepsy.
- Regulation of transmitter release by neurotransmitters and G proteins (in collaboration with Prof. Ilana Lotan).
